Current research:

I am a scholar in the field of critical university studies. My specific research interests are:

  • Social media fluency and researcher identities
  • Research cultures and the role of research education and development staff
    • This interest area has led to working with Dr Meagan Tyler on memes and researcher development.
  • Early Career Researcher (ECR) experiences

Previous research projects:

  • Doctoral research by distance (2022-2024; with Katrina McChesney, Jamie Burford, and Liezel Frick).
  • Being Asian in Australia and the United States (ARC Discovery Project with Professor Jacqueline Lo and Dr Dean Chan [2008-2010])
  • Critically locating narratives of Asian-Australian public history (Monash University Fellowship / University of Queensland postdoctoral projects [2001-2010])
  • Asian Australian and Asian Canadian literary production (Doctoral research, University of Queensland [1996-1999])
